Missions Editorial: Guatemala, Just Another Day in Paradise

Hey its Nate checking in from Guatemala. I never knew God was going to use my 2 semesters of spanish this much, as I have been forced to speak spanish everywhere each day.
For the last 10 days I´ve been in Guatemala and living the dream. Here, there is no concept of time and it seems you eat where ever you go. When I first got here I made a wooden cross and carried it thought the town of Amberes which is an hour from Guatemala City in the moutains. The next day I held the cross in a truck as we went thought a 5 hour parade. The parade was for a national holiday in Guatemala called the "Day of the Cross." The cross is an important symbol on this day throughout the country of Guatemala.

Later in the week,  a "clown mission team" arrived, so for the last few days I have been dressed up as a clown! We have the opportunity to perform magic tricks in the schools each day. It’s quite amazing. It’s so easy to be in the schools and present the teachings of Jesus. And we also did an event Sunday afternoon on a soccer field. It started with only 30 kids. But in Guatemala, word travels fast and in 15 minutes there were 200 kids. I wish "the word" would travel this fast in America.

When I get back I will be writing a full article on the trip.

Living the dream in guatemala

Nate
